Rutland Symbiotica

Social group for anyone with any form of disability.

Go out on trips to garden centres, canal trips, meals and a wide variety of other social activities that people would otherwise not do on their own.
A yearly programme of events is organised for people to dip into, meet new people, make friends and have fun. Often trips out are subsides by fundraising efforts and members generally only pay for their own meals.

Discrimination and or abuse because of Age & Disability is a crime

Have you been discriminated against because of your age or disability? If so, then you may have been a victim of a HATE CRIME.

The police in Oakham & Rutland will investigate any incident in which someone is subjected to abuse (whether that's physical, mental or verbal) if it's motivated by age or disability.
This is now classed as a HATE CRIME which also covers four other areas:-

  • Gender
  • Homophobic
  • Racist
  • Religious
PC Loyala OVERLUNDE from Loughborough Police is appealing to anyone who thinks they have been a victim of a hate crime to come forward and report it to the police.

He can ensure that it is brought to the attention of a local police officer to investigate or refer the incident to other agencies for their information or action.

He said; "We take reports of hate crime very seriously and will thoroughly investigate any complaint. Officers will do all they can to catch and deal with the people responsible and work closely with other organisations to prevent further incidents. If you think you have been a victim of this type of crime then please go into your local police station to make a report, or ring Leicestershire Police on 0116 222 2222."
